🌊 What is the Fourth Wave?
The Charismatic Episcopal Church (CEC) emerged from the Third Wave of renewal and became a leading force in the Fourth Wave—a movement that restores apostolic authority, sacramental worship, and biblical faithfulness while embracing the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.
The Fourth Wave represents the full convergence of Word, Spirit, and Sacrament, bringing together the evangelical, charismatic, and liturgical expressions of Christian faith.
“The river of God is deep and wide, where every stream of worship converges into one mighty movement.” (Ezekiel 47:1-12)

🔄 The Four Waves of Renewal

🕊 First Wave – The Pentecostal Movement (1900s)

Began with the Azusa Street Revival (1906).
Focused on baptism in the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, and spiritual gifts.
Led to denominations like Assemblies of God, Church of God, and Foursquare Church.

🔥 Second Wave – The Charismatic Renewal (1960s-1970s)

Brought the power of the Holy Spirit into Catholic and Protestant churches.
Led by movements like the Jesus Movement and Calvary Chapel, as seen in the Movie Jesus Revolution.
Emphasized informal worship and contemporary music.

⚡ Third Wave – Signs and Wonders Movement (1980s-1990s)

Led by John Wimber and the Vineyard Church.

Focused on the Kingdom of God being active today through healing, deliverance, and prophecy. In 1992, our first bishop was consecrated, marking the official beginning of the ICCEC, and that same year, Christianity Today Published a defining article, Ancient Altar, Pentecostal Fires. This article transformed a small church in San Clemente, CA, into a nationwide movement.

Unites all streams of Christian faith into a single, powerful movement. The Charismatic Episcopal Church (CEC) was born from this movement. Seeking to restore apostolic authority, sacramental worship, and evangelical faithfulness.

🔹 Apostolic Authority – Restoring biblical leadership through bishops and apostolic succession.
🔹 Convergence Worship – Bringing together the richness of Sacrament, the power of the Spirit, and the authority of the Word.

🔹 Healing & Deliverance – Leading people into deep encounters with Christ for personal and communal transformation.
This movement is not about blending traditions but restoring the fullness of God’s design for the Church—a Church that is not fragmented but unified in worship and mission.
